Bridal FAQ

What is the difference between bespoke bridal makeup and a regular makeup appointment? - With bespoke bridal makeup, it is so much more than a regular appointment. I book a massive chunk of time out to be with yourself and the bridal party for your makeup application and touch ups. . I can be booked over a year in advance. I can come out to your location, which can take a lot of time sometimes.  While a regular appointment is still special but can only be booked 3 months in advance and is usually held at the salon. These appointments are popular with bridal clients that are getting married at the Town Hall in the week, before their celebration at the weekend, or clients having a small wedding and might just want their own makeup done. A regular makeup appointment in the salon is £50.00

Can you come out to my venue/ home on the morning of the wedding? - Yes! As part of the bridal package I include complimentary travel of a 10 miles round trip to and from my home in S8, Sheffield. Anything further includes 50p per mile to cover the ever growing fuel costs. Further travel expenses are added to cover my time traveling to your home and/ venue if you are out of the Sheffield area. The expenses do depend on where you are getting ready, but I will state the amount in an email to yourselves when I have your wedding details.

Where are you based? - I’m based at The Style Studio which is a gorgeous salon with lots of natural light. It is located at the West One Complex in Sheffield city centre. Plenty of car parks around it and easy access by public transport. If you are coming by train, the tram runs from the train station to the salon. This is where I do all my bridal trials, lessons and appointments. Some clients choose to have their bridal makeup here, as the salon is spacious and light.

Do you travel outside Sheffield? - Yes, I can pretty much travel wherever you want me.

Do I need to know the exact number for makeup when booking? - No, sometimes booking me over a year in advance you might not know the exact party number.  I generally only take on bookings in peak season of 4 people minimum or minimum spend of £445.00, but if extra people want to add on later than that’s fine. I just ask for number confirmation at least 3 months before the wedding date so I can organise my diary. Please can you let me know if it will be a large wedding party as I might need to get someone to help me, depending what time you are getting ready.

What brands do you use? - I use a wide range of different makeup brands, but my favourite to use are Charlotte Tilbury and KDV, especially for lips and eyes. Nars, Fenty and Armani for skin.

How many people can you do on the day? - I can usually do approx up to 7-8 people on my own depending what time you are getting married. I sometimes get makeup artist friends to help me if needed.

When should I book my bridal trial? - Everyone is different but I think 2 to 3 months beforehand is great, as the look is still fresh in your mind and there is time for another trial if needed if you were to have a change of mind on a different look. But I’m easy to do what you want to do.

Can I have a bridal trial before commiting to a booking? - Yes of course. It can be daunting sometimes, especially if you don’t wear a lot of makeup. If this is something you wanted to do, I would recommend booking in for a trial quite soon. As I can’t hold your wedding date without a booking confirmation and deposit. If you booked in for a trial I would charge for separate bridal trial of £75.00 and then deduct the price off the trial off the package if you decided to book me.

Do I need to bring anything to my trial? - Just yourself and any reference pics are always useful to get a clear idea what looks you love. Pinterest is always a good source https://uk.pinterest.com/craftmakeup/  You can come barefaced or a full face of makeup. Whatever you are comfortable with, as I will give your skin a full cleanse and prep anyway. If there is a lipstick or something you have that you think you want to wear on the wedding day, feel free to bring it. And we can trial it with the look you have in mind.

Do you do hair? - No, I prefer to stick to what I’m good at :) and hair I am. not! So I prefer to focus on one skill. But I can recommend lots of great hair people.

Do you do bridal lessons? - Yes I do. There's many reasons why someone would just want to do their own makeup on their wedding day. I did my own makeup, and  I think I would have even if I wasn't a makeup artist. I got married in New York and I couldn't find anyone who’s style I liked.  I enjoyed the quietness of doing my makeup on my own before I got married. You will also learn the skills to do your everyday makeup.

Will my wedding makeup last all day? - Yes! Skin is prepped and long lasting products are applied. I always recommend in your bag a few keys products for touch ups to keep the look looking fresh. Such as lips products, powder and/or blotting paper and concealer. All this will be discussed at a wedding trial.

Can you recommend other wedding suppliers? - Yes see recommended wedding supplier section
